This year Easter
has been crazy in Poland because of all the snow and coldness. I don’t really
remember celebrating a wintery Easter (to be honest, I don’t recall a
wintery Christmas, either). But also, it has been different because of my
localization: it’s the first Easter spent in the new house and new town. It was
less Christian (since the blessing was super early at the local church and only
my dad went with a basket) and the same amount of quality time
spent with my family. Unfortunately, I haven't spent these days with everyone I wanted to. Andrew hasn't been here to celebrate and get to know the Wosiek's Easter traditions with us. I bet he would like it because of the food, no allergies and spending time with my family. Hopefully next year (doesn't matter where) we will spend Easter together, sharing traditions from the two best continents.
The earlier
mentioned basket. Every item in it symbolizes something and is rather
important. For example, eggs symbolize new life, horseradish- physical strength
and meat is there for well-being.
The cake my mom and I baked is called Mazurek and it's a traditional Easter cake here. Came out pretty good (made me proud of myself, for sure).
Part of my family. Btw it's not a dinner. It's a breakfast, at 10 o'clock. With a soup, kielbasas and stuff (the stuff= things from the basket).
It's not what Easter usually looks like in Poland! I always imagine having green and flowery Easter but this year has been kind of.... original, white and non-flowery! Hopefully it gets warmer soon!
